Almost a Century ago………..
The San Nicolas we all know & love today is home to locals of which many are descendants of workers once employed by the Oil Refinery that started in 1924.
A small group of men landed on the South shores of the Island and were immediately convinced that Aruba would serve as a perfect Transshipment location for the crude oil extracted from the nearby Lake Maracaibo in North-West Venezuela.
Soon a Refinery was built & with it, a small town called “Lago Colony” for its first employees.
Due to its growing success & expansion the Refinery sought out thousands of Immigrant workers from Islands & Countries both near and far.
Many of these workers brought with them their own language/dialects, culture & music. Over the years their presence has made San Nicolas sound, feel & taste different from the rest of the Island.
Foundation Centro di Bario Lago Heights was initiated on May 25th, 1977 & the Center has enjoyed many years of glory. Serving as THE celebration spot for many weddings, birthdays, receptions, graduations, gatherings & even the National Calypso & Roadmarch Contest once.

To bring the neighborhood together and maintain this unity, by establishing & maintaining a Recreational Center with an accepting & open mind.
To promote Social, Physical & Mental Wellbeing within our Community by closely working alongside Professionals, other Community Centers & Organizations that share similar values.
To encourage & sustain the positive development amongst our people in San Nicolas as well as the rest of the Island of Aruba by organizing & executing programs that support & encourage Youth, Volunteers as well as Families to explore their talents, discover their passions and take their skills to the next level.
